I want to get a gmail email address, but every single time I got to gmail.com and I click sign up. And it asks for my mobile phone number, and they shouldn't need it if I just want an online account. Help?!?!?!?!? I don't want gmail on my mobile phone!

The Gmail would not be on your phone but they send you a code to set up an account. (SMS text message). The only way to get an account w/o using your cell is to get an invitation from someone who has an account already. I found out because Virgin wireless doesn't work with Google's SMS service and I had a friend invite me using his account.
